About us...

Peter and Mary Gealey moved to Fort Bragg on the beautiful Mendocino Coast of California in 1977.Below is a recent family photo with their daughter Felicia. So far, all the art on this site is by Peter, but other Gealey family artworks may well appear in the future...

Peter started drawing cartoon fruit & vegetable sale signs (see below) for the weekly produce specials in the early Eighties while working as a produce man in various local grocery stores... . Here are a couple samples from the early 90s... nicely wrinkled from rogue water droplets emitted by hosing produce men.

In 1995 the Gealeys, with brother Dave Gealey, opened  The Headlands Coffeehouse in downtown Fort Bragg (still open, monthly art shows, live music nightly)... the signage changed from produce to coffee beans, pastries, food & drinks. They sold the Coffeehouse in 2006 to right hand man Juan and his wife, Lenore, who still own it.

After that Peter had the free time to actually produce work for whimsical art shows.... the first was in December of 2010 at The Headlands Coffeehouse... "Birds, Boules & Noses" followed by "The Secret Life of Pasta" in 2011 (in process below). Others have followed, the results of which can be seen on this site. Enjoy.           The Gealeys
